Do lithium-ion forklift batteries need ventilation?

Lithium-ion forklift batteries need ventilation for the following reasons:

Heat dissipation needs:

Lithium-ion batteries generate heat during charging and discharging. If the heat cannot be dissipated in time, the battery temperature will rise.

Excessive temperature will have a negative impact on the performance and life of the battery, such as accelerating battery aging, reducing battery capacity, and may even cause safety issues such as thermal runaway.

Good ventilation can help remove the heat generated by the battery and maintain a suitable operating temperature.

Gas emission:

Although lithium-ion batteries do not produce a large amount of flammable and explosive gases such as hydrogen during charging like lead-acid batteries, in some cases, such as when an abnormal reaction occurs inside the battery, a small amount of gas may also be produced.

Ventilation can discharge these gases in time to avoid gas accumulation and reduce potential safety risks.

Prevent humidity accumulation:

In some environments, there may be high humidity.

If the environment where the lithium-ion forklift battery is located is poorly ventilated, humidity is easy to accumulate, which may cause water vapor to condense on the surface of the battery, which in turn affects the insulation performance of the battery and may even cause faults such as short circuits. Ventilation helps to maintain air circulation, reduce humidity, and prevent water vapor condensation.

FLIFT P series lithium battery forklifts have a liquid-cooled thermal management system to better protect lithium batteries and extend their service life.

Automotive-grade thermal management system:
liquid-cooled three-electric system.

Average temperature: The water circulation of the liquid-cooled battery pack ensures uniform temperature of each battery cell, improves battery life, and protects the battery.
Cooling: The system adjusts the cooling water pump and compressor refrigeration to control the battery to work in a suitable temperature range, suppressing the battery temperature rise during operation and fast charging.
Heating: The battery can be equipped with a WPTC water heater, which is used to heat the battery coolant in a low temperature environment.

Why choose a heat pump liquid-cooled thermal management system?

The liquid-cooled battery pack uses antifreeze as a heat transfer medium. Higher specific heat capacity brings better thermal conductivity and temperature difference control. The battery has been significantly improved in efficiency, stability and durability, extending its life.
