What You Need To Know About Forklift Chassis Height Differences

Date: 2025-01-13 View:

How far should a forklift be off the ground?

The height of a forklift from the ground varies depending on different situations and components.

There are two types of heights from the ground that we often talk about, one is the height of the fork from the ground, and the other is the height of the forklift chassis from the ground.

The height of the fork from the ground:

When the forklift is driving, the fork is generally 300-400 mm from the ground. This height can not only ensure that the forklift will not scrape against obstacles on the ground, such as raised roads and stones, which will affect driving safety and stability, but also avoid the forklift's center of gravity rising due to the fork being too high, which will increase the risk of rollover.

When operating: When picking up or placing goods, the height of the fork will be adjusted according to the storage location of the goods and the operation requirements. For example, when picking up goods from the ground, the fork needs to be lowered to a height close to the ground, usually about a few centimeters, so that it can be smoothly inserted under the goods; on the lifting capacity of the forklift and the actual height of the shelf.

Forklift chassis height from the ground:

This height from the ground is much more important. If it is used in normal ground conditions, ordinary forklifts are sufficient.

The ground clearance of common forklift chassis is generally around 100-150mm.
FLIFT conventional forklifts, whether diesel or electric, have a ground clearance of
200mm. They both can be use indoors and outdoors.

If you are working on ground conditions such as mud and gravel. You need to use an off-road forklift.
First, this forklift is equipped with large-pattern off-road tires, which have good grip. Second, the ground clearance of this off-road forklift is usually above 300mm, with good passability.

The chassis ground height of the FLIFT off-road forklift is 350mm, with super high passability, and can easily cope with harsh ground environments.

And it is equipped with vacuum pattern tires with strong off-road capability, excellent vehicle stability and shock absorption.
