Is a stand up forklift the same as a reach truck?

Stand-on forklifts and reach-on forklifts are different.
They mainly have the following differences:

1. Operator posture and field of view

Stand-on forklifts:

The operator stands on the forklift's work platform to operate.
This posture allows the operator to have a relatively wide field of view.

During the movement and operation of the forklift,
it is easy to observe the surrounding environment and cargo conditions,
especially the side and rear fields of view are good,
which is conducive to working in a narrow space
or in a space with more people and cargo.

Reach-on forklifts:

The operator can be sitting or standing (depending on the specific model),
but the focus is on the forklift's fork being able to extend forward.

The field of view of this forklift is mainly concentrated in front of the fork,
and there is good visibility for the operation of the fork to go deep
into the shelf to pick up and place goods,
but the side and rear fields of view may be limited to a certain extent.

2. Working method and applicable working condition

Stand-on forklifts are usually used for short-distance handling,
loading and unloading of goods on the ground floor
or lower shelf area of the warehouse.

Because the body is more flexible,
it can move quickly between aisles and shelves,
and can easily adjust its position when approaching the shelf.

It is suitable for places with relatively small space, frequent cargo turnover,
and high requirements for cargo handling flexibility,
such as small warehouses, retail store warehouses,
and sorting areas of distribution centers.

Reach forklifts are mainly used to store and retrieve goods
in high-rise shelf warehouses.

The fork can be extended forward,
so that the forklift can put the goods into the deeper shelf position
or take the goods out from the deep shelf in the aisle
without being completely close to the shelf,
which effectively utilizes the warehouse space and improves the storage density.

It is mainly more suitable for large warehouses with high storage density requirements,
especially those logistics centers that use high-rise shelves to store goods,
finished product warehouses of large factories, etc.

3. Body structure and load capacity

The body structure of the stand-up forklift is relatively compact
because it does not need to consider the long-distance forward extension structure
of the fork like the reach forklift.

Its load capacity is generally suitable for the handling
of small and medium-weight goods, usually around 1-2 tons,
but the specific load capacity will also vary depending on the model.

The body structure of the reach forklift will be more complicated
due to the need to realize the forward extension function of the fork,
including special door frames and forward extension mechanisms.

Its load capacity is usually strong and can carry heavier goods.

The common load capacity is around 2-5 tons,
which can meet the storage and handling needs

of large warehouses for heavier goods.
